At The Mat Collective we focus on every step of our yoga mats journey. From the biodegradable materials, planet friendly inks and our manufacturing processes, we’re committed to being socially and environmentally conscious. We support sustainable techniques and processes to better our Mother earth.
The yoga mat surface is made of a vegan microfibre and heat pressed to the base, carefully considering the environment by eliminating the need for toxic glues or chemicals. The base is made from natural tree rubber and is 100% non-toxic. The tree rubber is gently extracted from the rubber tree in a process just like a maple tree might be tapped. The tree is not stressed or killed in the process making this an incredible sustainable process.
While we agree that microfibre is not a very sustainable material, we have found a new supplier and all our suede-like yoga mat surfaces going forward will be made with recycled plastics instead. Once all the yoga mats with microfibre are sold out, they will be replaced with this more suistanable option.
We take pride in ensuring our mats are packaged in eco friendly boxes and avoid using plastics where possible.
